In a despatch of Lord Kimberley No. 80 of the 9th July 1881, His Lordship referred to this fact and expressed an opinion that the Central School should, like other schools receiving Government assistance, be examined by the Inspector of Schools, Dr Eitel.
On the arrival of Mr. Wright as Head Master in 1882, Sir John Pope Hennessy, who was then Governor, although he gave directions that Mr. Wright should communicate direct with the Colonial Secretary in the same way as other heads of Departments, stated that this order was not to interfere with the examination of the School by Dr Eitel.
